Childlife-A future for street children in Mae Sai

The Childlifeteam
Childlife- There are the children and the unpaid helpers, on their top
Ngaow. As Sissy wrote in her farewell report, everyone on the Thai
team is to admired, as well as the volunteers from many different
countries. Here is the team how I saw it:
Ngaow, 29 Years old, Thai, Art studies: When Ngaow finished his studies the world was full of
opportunities for him, he but he choose t dedicated himself to the poor children. Before he started in 2000
his own project "Childlife" he worked as a volunteer at "DEPDC" and "Save the children Fund". It was a
difficult task, in October 2000 he took the first children into his house at his own expense. Money had been
promised never came, so he had to send the children back to the streets. It was then that Anna-Maria and
myself did everything we could to support him,
and have to continued to do so since the 1st of September 2001 with
Kinderleben Eine Zukunft für Strassenkinder in Mae Sai e.V.
The pictures remind at a bar chart,
the top forms the Opening speech
"Childlife Vision 2002"
on the 30 of March 2002.

Thai and Pok, siblings Tai joined the project one year ago after
spending some time studying physics. Her brother Pok has been with
the project for ten months. On the day of my departure ( 2.4.02) we
brought Pok to the bus station in Chiang Rai, as he had to go to
Bangkok to see if he would have to perform military service. In
Thailand it is decided who has to be in the army by a draw .
Meanwhile I know that Pok was lucky and didn't have to go. Also
the next problem is solved. Recently their father has consented to
both children staying in the project. It was a difficult decision for him,
as he has paid for their education and since they earn no money for
their work he has to continue to support them financially.

Aeh, 27 I don't know much about Aeh, due to the fact that she only speaks Thai. She is Ngaows sister and
is a very kind and hard-working helper. She is a professional teacher which is very important for the
education of the children.

Too, 15 As you can see by her age, she is the youngest helper in the project. She was in school at DEPDC
and wants to perform some practical experience before she starts High school..

Sissy, 20, German I don't have to tell you anything about her- as she says it much better in her farewell
report. I only want to say one thing, "Thank you, Sissy- you were a great help for me!"
