During the last few weeks as a volunteer with Childlife I was able to gain some insight into the project and the
current situation. Ngaow and his team work with all of their heart for the children. The new property would be
a great chance to help even more children. I sincerely hope that this chance can be seized. Daily I could see new
children coming to Mae Sai, with babies on their backs, begging to get a few Baht. The children virtually have no
chance to break out from the vicious circle of begging, drug trafficking and prostitution if they don’t obtain any
education or job training . Only when I was back in Germany did I realise how different life is here. The people often are stuck in rigid daily life structures and it is more difficult to become active do something good as every-
thing seems so far away. But maybe at least some can help to make Childlife’s dream come true. Ngaow and
the children are grateful for any help. Verena Schmidt 20.02.2002
It is impressing how Ngaow and Ralph gave up everything in order to help these children . They gave up everything and now rely and depend on your donations. They also took us to the bridge and really showed us how life there is like. On the last day we visited the new property outside out Mae Sai, which I hope is going to be approve, as the old property is too small by now. At the moment they are taking care of 45 children, who are staying there permanently. The property is very beautiful with two ponds, lots of fish, ducks and about ten cows, which they could take on from the farmer . The rent is not too high. As things are now the team is hoping that it is going to be approved, so that then everybody including the children want to join in and do lots of construction work themselves. I hope it is going to be approved, because then the children could romp about plus the duck eggs and fish could contribute to self sufficiency and also be sold at the market. That way Ngaow wouldn't have to ask his friends for money just to be able to buy food for the children. I hope it all works out for them!!!!!! Desiree v. Garczynski 28.01.2002

Hello from Chiang Rai, went to the project the day before yesterday and could take a look at the sketches for the new house. It seems to be already very sound. Maybe we can already take a look at the new site on our next visit around the 23rd February. Until then, best wishes Gute Harry+Bulli http://www.off-roadtours.de/ 24.01.2002
